“Trust preceeds Proof” - Erin Rogers
This is where I often find myself lingering, and where many of my clients begin their journey with me. They crave proof that believing, trusting, and following their intuition will indeed lead them to a life they love. But that’s not how it works. You must trust first, and the proof will follow.
Over the weekend, a poignant reminder of this truth surfaced.
My friend arrived in town on Friday night, eager to embrace the evening. Like all my close companions, she enjoys delving into deeper conversations. As we caught up on daily life, she turned to me and asked, "What's really going on for you?"
I hesitated, not wanting our conversation to veer into work mode (she’s a coach and psychic like me), but I sensed she was already tuned in, likely receiving insights from my spirit guides.
"I'm struggling," I confessed. "I feel like everything 'should' be working—my business, life, romantic partnership—but it's not. I'm frustrated, on the brink of giving up."
Then, she did for me what I do for others but sometimes struggle to do for myself.
"It's clear," she said gently. "You're trying to push through when your younger self needs attention, care, and acknowledgment on your journey. You want to heal it and move on, but it's like you're trying to leave parts of yourself behind."
As her words sank in, I realized the truth in what she was saying. I had done 'the work', checked the boxes, and now I craved a quick fix, a formula for success, not another round of healing past wounds.
She pointed out my resistance to her insights, and I couldn't help but laugh at my own stubbornness.
We both acknowledged the annoyance that simplicity sometimes brings.
Later that night, as I drifted off to sleep, her words echoed in my mind. And five and a half hours later, I awoke with clarity. I realized that I needed to embrace all parts of myself on this journey forward.
I had been waiting for life to show up so I could trust it, instead of trusting life knowing it would all work out.
At sunrise, before I started my meditation on the beach, I realised I had left my phone behind and decided I was meant to embraced the present moment. Near the end of my meditation a beautiful soul noticed me deep in meditation and came over to have a loving exchange about mutual appreciate of the morning and the opportunity to meditate.
I continued my routine leaving the beach and heading to my favourite coffee show across the street to enjoy a coffee and journal on my reflections. The same soul I had spoken to on the beach approached me with photos he had taken—moments I never could have captured myself.
I was show in that moment, I trusted, and life showed up.
It was serendipitous and beautiful—a living example of the lesson I needed to embrace.
Gratitude overwhelmed me.
